Keep Up The Bag; or, [the greatest game that never was]

We had to do a little rat killin' tonight and when we got back home Carrie suggested we spruce up a little bit. So we headed to the kitchen, ready to wage war on a few odd dishes that didn't make it to the washing machine for some even odder reasons that no one knows. And then it hit me. What we needed was not to enter into an episodic cleaning convulsion. Neither did we need to any longer stress over the capitulations of the day. What we needed was an amiable and calming (if not somewhat exotic) game of Keep Up The Bag.

The goal of Keep Up The Bag is simple, obvious, and eloquent: Keep a designated plastic grocery bag from touching the ground for an allotted amount of time. A spin off of the more simple and catchier childhood game Keep Up The Balloon, Keep Up The Bag combines hand-eye coordination with foot-ground coordination to bring you a challenging and jovial game that will test your wit, monitor your reflexes, develop your teamwork skills, and is sure to delight even the most begrudged of folk.

To play Keep Up The Bag, kindly find a partner and together select your favorite grocery bag. Agree upon an amount of time to play (noobs should start off with 30 seconds) and set a timer for the predetermined time. The taller partner should begin with the bag. Start the timer and hit the bag up into the air. Take turns hitting the bag, taking care to not allow it to touch the ground. You may not hit the bag twice in a row. If you make a bad hit on the bag it is up to your partner to redeem your folly. Should either you or your partner hit the bag twice in a row, or, at any time during play should the bag touch the ground, the bag wins.

What are you waiting for? Grab a partner, get a bag, and let the smiles begin!

Marvelous Martes!

We took this at Daytona Beach on our way back from Disney World last month. Some dude peddled up and parked his fishin' vessel right by us. This was shortly after another stray biker asked us if we wanted to buy some marijuana.

Back In The 'Boro [the new Chancehold]

Well we finally got everything moved to Murfreesboro and settled into our new Chancehold. Carrie wanted to post up a picture of her new hutch so radiantly displayed in our living room.

Someone did a wonderful job picking out that hutch for Carrie....

The new Chancehold!

We rode our bikes down to Barfield Crescent park today and enjoyed quite a raucous game of tetherball.

We are excited (and maybe a little anxious) to see what God has in store for us as we enter into this next season of our marriage. We pray that God will give us a heart to see His Name glorified in this community as well as the rest of our nation and all the other nations of this world. We also pray that we will be committed to doing His kingdom work in all we do every day and in every way He presents us opportunity!

Love and Peace,
Chancehold out!

Marvelous Martes!

We took this pic when we stopped at Daytona Beach on the way back from Disney World. Don't you just want to be there? (The beach or Disney World. Either would suffice.)

Christmas Time At The Chancehold (Part Deux)

We decided it best to go ahead and exchange Christmas gifts Thursday evening, mostly because we just couldn't stand not having them opened any longer. It was quite a pleasant evening and we received one another's gifts with an equanimity and inquisitiveness that could rival even that of the staunchest mountain yak.

Such a well-written and accurate description of the recipient.

Carrie got I Am Legend and The Departed on Blu-Ray.

Goldeneye and Donkey Kong Country for Wii and all 3 of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies!!!

As we settled back down for our long winter's nap, Carrie is much obliged to find out she has one more gift...

We would like to thank you kindly for being our friend!

Disney World!!

Disney World!!
Pure. Unadulterated. Fun.

Well we just got back from a week at one of the 3 most wonderful places in the world. That Walt Disney sure did outdo himself! If you recall, Carrie received Disney World tickets for her anniversary present back in October and we finally got to go. We can tick that off our Cubo Lista (our bucket list) as well! We have some family that lives in Orlando so we had free room and board. We are using the money we saved on a hotel room as a down payment for our goat ranch.

We spent 5 days at the parks. And it was not warm. In fact, I do believe Orlando set a record low (like 31 degrees) while we were there. We had to wear our huge jackets, toboggans and gloves half the time. The other half we just walked around naked.

If you haven't been to D-World in the past 2 weeks then I can be the first to inform you of their newest exhibit at Animal Kingdom: the Dinosaur Petting Zoo! Using blood from a prehistoric petrified mosquito, scientists at Disney were able to extract Dino DNA and create real dinosaurs!! (haven't you seen Jurassic Park??) To be completely honest it was a little dangerous. Some kid got eaten so we bailed.

Noob Tip: don't ride the intense version of Mission Space at Epcot unless you want to throw up and die.

Nathan just about lost his marbles when he saw the castle.

Italian Juggler McGee at Epcot.

The high that day was like 40.

Moroccan Madness via Epcot Central.

Nathan created this masterpiece using only a potato, a set of arms, an eyeball, an eyepatch, a Darth Vader helmet, a set of lips, nose, moustache, and a pair of high heels.

She liked it too.

The kid that got devoured at the Dino Petting Zoo.

Carrie's dream home. She's already drawing up blueprints.

We took a tour of the Grand Floridian and they had a pretty dominant gingerbread house. That gingerbread sign to the left reads:

Made of: 1,050 lbs. of Honey, 140 pints of Egg Whites, 600 lbs. of Powdered Sugar, 700 lbs. of Chocolate, 800 lbs. of Flour, 35 lbs. of Spices, Tons of Creativity, Disney Magic, and Pixie Dust.

Miss Mad Hatter.

Carrie just had to ride the Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom. And she was the only one in the raft that got completely soaked.

Apparently this guy got pretty wet as well. At least his pants did. (Yes he is down to his whitey tighties)

Tree of Life. 'Nuff said.

We went by Daytona Beach for a couple of hours on the way back home. Sunny and in the 70s.

AnThRopoLoGiE

I absolutely love the store anthropologie, unfortunately it is SUPER expensive! They do have wonderful sales though and because of that (and my loving mother) I am able to occasionally add some anthro into my wardrobe! Let me just list some reasons why I love the store so much...
1. very original
2. very colorful
3. DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS
4. nicely put together
5. style is bohemian meets classic (I also love JCREW)
6. the clothes hold up for a long time
7. makes special occasions even more special if you get to a wear something from there
8. just browsing their website or walking through a store is an adventure, so intricate!
9. not only are their clothes great but they have amazing accessories and household stuff (just look in my kitchen!)

OKAY i know that i need to calm down now....you might ask, why this blog? Well that picture that you see above is one that I created off the website polyvore.com. You can design your own anthro add and it gets thrown into the pile of the other 700 ads people have created to hopefully win a $500.00 gift card! I could get the boots I've dreamed about (in the pic with the bows!). Anyways the website had a link that said "share with your blog" so I though "why not?". RANDOM but thought you might enjoy, at least I did! Now I get to go to the Rocketts with my momma and the women of the family! woohoo!! Have a great night everyone!
